69. Blue Moon Belgian White (USA)

Ani really wanted that fried Mac-n-cheese she saw advertised on TV. So we headed out to Chili’s, unfortunately they sell it at TGI Fridays. But we were there and we were hungry so we ordered some food. I also checked out their beer selection and ordered a Blue Moon. I have been hearing a lot about Blue Moon, so I was interested in trying it. The waitress asked if I would like an orange in it. Huh? Sure. So a few minutes later she brings out two frosty mugs of beer (its always buy one get one at Chili’s) with oranges in it. It was a really good beer. I’m not sure why there was an orange in it, but a beer soaked orange is tasty. The beer itself had a really distinctive taste and smell of honey. It wasn’t overly strong and it was really refreshing. I think I’ll revisit this one in January.

68. Tecate (Mexico)

It was raining really hard and I needed to do laundry. I was kind of snaky. So I ventured out heading towards Dunkin’ Donuts, I noticed a Mexican restaurant that claimed it was a bar. I said when in Rome. I went in and this place was really cheesy. I got a bottle of Tecate and some chips with guacamole. Ughh this beer was terrible, I guess a lot of these foreign beers that end up here are their Budweiser’s. I probably would have been better off picking up a cold beer from the distributor next to the Laundromat, I’m sure if I brought the attendant one she would have had n problem with me drinking in there.

67. Saranac Octoberfest (USA)

This beer was so lame after the Spaten Oktoberfest.

66. Long Board Lager (USA)

Mom got some really kick ass Mets tickets. So Mom, Ani, Mike and me head over to Shea, Mike and Mom look for some food, I go and look for some beers> Its funny upstairs at Shea there is not the beer selection that the field level gets. I grabbed a Long board Lager form the Kona Brewing Company in Hawaii. It was a really fresh tasting beer. Not to bubbly or harsh. It was too bad the Mets were bitch slapped by the Dodgers, but a day at the ballpark and a cold frosty beer is really never too bad.

64. Spaten Oktoberfest (Germany)

Ani had sent me an email that there was going to be an Octoberfest at Atlas Park. I remember last year before they were actually opened they had an Octoberfest (also in September) and there were free beers. So I was excited and hoped to nab some free beers. Unfortunately they wised up and were selling beers this year. I grabbed a Spaten Oktoberfest and we grabbed a bratwurst. Could two food items go better together? A real German brat and a real German beer. The only thing that could have made it better if the beers were served by bosomy German girls, but alas. A nice day in the sun, a good beer and a good sausage. Who could as for more?

63. Harnas (Poland)

I was getting so Chinese food down at 888 kitchen and as I waited I went into the little Polish deli next door and they have a huge selection of polish beers. I saw one that caught my fancy it was called Harnas and claimed to be beer from the Polish Highlands. I didn’t know there were Polish highlands, but I checked it out. The price was right only $1.00 for a 24 oz bottle. It is a hearty beer but really very regular. I see why it costs a buck. It is a great beer for getting drunk, but not so much for someone looking for great beers.

62. Samuel Adams Boston Lager (USA)

This afternoon I got an email from Ani and she had stumbled upon a fellow marathon beer drinker, this guy Nick is attempting to drink 365 beers this year, as of this afternoon he was up to 260 or so. I felt I have drank a lot of beer this year, and he has gone 200 more so far. Well all I can do is tip my glass and say cheers.

He mentioned in an email to me that he had talked to a guy in England who was going for the 365, but quit after 40, I wonder if there are other as I coined the phrase earlier "marathon Drinkers." I will find my people!

Anyway I got inspired to get back on the stool. I drank a Sam Adams Boston Lager. After a few long days at work it was just right to take the edge off and relax me for a evening of Rockstar: Supernova. The foam head was kind of woody and the beer itself had a really great orangey glow to it. It was not anything out of the ordinary but it was a good solid beer.
